"Be still and know that I am
God." Psalm 46:10
Nestled in the North Carolina Mountains, the Candlestick
Retreat is the place to be still and seek the Lord. We
are a four season resort established to advance the cause
of Christ. Come and join us for a weekend or a week. We
would love to host your team in a friendly, comfortable
Christian atmosphere.
The Candlestick Retreat & Enrichment Center has
been established to be a light to the community and as
far as we can reach into the world with the gospel of
Jesus Christ. We are dedicated to growing God's people
and reaching the lost. This resort and ministry is the
vision of Minneapolis Baptist Church. It can be used as
a conference center to educate and edify God's people
or used as a retreat for spiritual and physical refreshment
in the beauty of His creation. By coming here we pray
that missions grow in your heart and your commitment and
purpose is strengthened to follow Jesus and make a difference
in this world for Him.
Built in 1932, the Minneapolis School building (17,000
square feet) has been transformed into a 72-bed facility.
We have added new conveniences but have kept the flavor
of the original hardwood floors and old school feel. We
have a large common living room suitable for relaxation
with comfy furniture or holding devotional meetings where
you may conveniently access our wireless high-speed internet
service or use our nation-wide unlimited long distance
phone service (cell tower access is limited in and near
the center). Enjoy physical recreation or hold meetings
in our full size gymnasium-auditorium which is conductive
to team sports, rain or shine, or work out in our exercise
room. You will be able to prepare and serve meals in our
large cafeteria-dining hall also suitable for devotional
and other meetings.
Located in Avery County, North Carolina, we are at
the intersection of Big Horse Creek and Toe River that
meanders around the boundary of the retreat center. (Physically
we are at the intersection of Hwy. 19E and Minneapolis
School Road which actually ends in our parking lot. We
are fully visible from 19E whether come from the North
and South
A place in time, Minneapolis is a small community
with a population of approximately 200 and includes the
historically famous Appalachian Inn Bed & Breakfast
and our local post office. It is a lovely place centered
in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Please visit our photo gallery.
